How TEDxPPSIJC Youth 2026 lit up the stage with Projection Mapping Technology

Projection mapping at TEDxPPSIJC Youth 2026 was designed to complement each speaker’s talk rather than serve as a standalone stage effect. The process began with the creation of star-shaped props, which were carefully cut out and painted white to provide an ideal projection surface and ensure maximum clarity of the projected visuals. Using MadMapper, the exact outline of each star was digitally traced, allowing projected content to align precisely with the physical object. Once the mapping process was completed, a projector was used to cast visuals directly onto the stars, turning them into an integral part of the stage design.

Rather than using the same visuals throughout the event, each projection was developed specifically for the speaker it accompanied. The designs were inspired by the central ideas and tone of the talk, ensuring that every speaker had a distinct visual identity on stage. As a result, the patterns and imagery displayed on the stars changed throughout the event, reflecting the shift in  perspectives from one presentation to the next. Careful testing and adjustment were required to ensure accurate alignment between the projected content and the physical stars.

By combining mapped digital visuals with physical stage installations, the system offered a high level of customization while maintaining a cohesive visual identity across the event. The project demonstrated how projection mapping can be used not only to enhance the appearance of a stage, but also to adapt its visual language to the ideas being shared, allowing each talk to be accompanied by a unique and carefully designed visual backdrop.
